Meet the Pets of Our Team

Waffles

Waffles is our five-year-old Belgian Tervuren — and the reason Michigan Biscuit Company exists. Allergic to chicken, she inspired us to create clean, allergen-friendly treats for dogs who deserve better. She's our mascot, our logo, and our unofficial head of quality control.

Kali

Kali is our German Shepherd–Husky mix and official taste tester. Loyal, protective, and always close by, she brings a sweet spirit to the team — especially when freeze-dried lamb treats are on the menu.

Maisie

Maisie is our two-year-old Bloodhound — full of energy, curiosity, and those irresistibly long velvety ears. Her powerful nose and determined spirit remind us every day why we do what we do.

At Michigan Biscuit Company, we're a veteran, family-owned company driven by a deep love for animals. When our family dog was diagnosed with food allergies, we couldn't find treats we trusted — so we started making our own. Veteran Owned. Giving Back.

A percentage of every sale goes to support Project K-9 Hero's — a nonprofit dedicated to providing the best quality of life for retired Police K-9s and Military Working Dogs through medical care, rehabilitation, rehoming, and end-of-duty services. As a veteran-owned company, supporting those who served alongside four legs and a wag isn't just something we do. It's central to who we are.

FAQs

What are the best dog treats for dogs?

The best treats for your dog will depend on your dog's preferences, allergies, as well as why you are wanting treats to begin with. If your goal is to do focused training with your dog, you should look into high-value treats like our freeze-dried options. We have a variety of flavors to choose from depending on what your pup likes best!

Can dogs eat cat treats?

If your dog is eating cat treats on occasion, you likely don't have anything to worry about. However, dogs and cats have different needs when it comes to diet. Ideally, your dog is only eating dog treats that are made specifically for dogs. This will ensure that your pup is getting the right balance of protein and fats that is best for them.

Are dog biscuits good for dogs?

While many store bought dog biscuits contain fillers and additives that can upset your dog's stomach, treats made with healthy ingredients can be beneficial to your dog's health. When searching for the right dog biscuits for your pup, always check the ingredients list to ensure you're feeding them low calorie, nutritious treats.

What are the best dog treats for training?

In general, the best dog treats for training are low calorie, high value treats. You'll want to prioritize low calorie treats so that your dog doesn't put on extra weight during your many training sessions. High calorie biscuits with fillers and additives can quickly fill your dog up and make them less likely to perform commands.

You'll also want to look for treats that are high value, meaning that they smell and taste delicious to your dog. Think of them as bite sized  freeze-dried meats and cheeses that your pup can't ignore.

How long do dog biscuits last?

Dog biscuit shelf life will vary depending on the ingredients, how you stored them, and when you opened them.

Larger, more commercial dog treats generally last between 1-3 months after opening. Local brands that avoid fillers and preservatives may go bad more quickly, so always check the label for a "Best by" date stamp. If you are not sure, examine the dog treats for signs of spoilage including mold, an unpleasant smell, or discoloration.
